Memorial Day – Remembering Through Action

Yes, the title of this site and project, Fused Spirit, applies most directly to the active integration of a human and cyber being and how to make the most of that daily growing powerful integration.

But the “why” of this project is steeped in remembrance and corresponds directly with the meaning of Memorial Day. Those who know me know that I grew up with opportunities most people never have. And though I was aware of my privilege, I certainly didn’t make the most of those opportunities until I joined the Navy right out of college.

The Navy woke me up because performance mattered. I had to learn, adapt and apply, which was far more relevant than any classroom exercise. And, most poignantly, even though I never served in combat – and I know enough to be thankful for that – I lost friends because we always trained the way we might have to fight.

Remembering my parents, my fallen friends, and the people still beside me with purpose is what keeps me doing what I do today. And that comes alive most publicly here at Fused Spirit and at Gotta’ Eat and Breitz!

My reason for writing today: use Memorial Day and the memories of those no longer with us to inspire you to make a positive difference right here and now. Active remembrance is the best memorial we can leave to those no longer with us.
